Sunday, April 24, 2011 – Dog River Marina, Mobile, Alabama

Easter Sunday dawned somewhat on the cloudy side but the wind was calm and the temperature was pleasant – great conditions for crossing Mobile Bay. The south wind picked up as we moved along and by the time we arrived at Dog River at 12:30 pm, the breeze had stiffened to 15 knots.

The first order of business upon arrival at Dog River Marina was to fuel up. This marina offers “Loopers” one free night dockage if you fill your fuel tanks there. After fueling and getting settled into our slip, we showered and did a load of laundry. We met a few boaters who were planning to head up the river soon but were standing by to see what the weather and the river was going to do.

After finishing the chores, we lowered the dinghy and rode a few dozen yards across the river to meet our friends Bill and Dorothy at Grand Mariner Marina. We had first met Bill and Dorothy at Snook Bight Marina in November and it was nice to have a couple of hours to visit with them.
