Saturday, April 30, 2011 – Bashi Creek, mile 145 on the BWTB

We planned to travel only about 25 miles for the day so we lingered around Bobby's Fish Camp for a few hours in the morning. It was another foggy sunrise – even thicker than the day before. Blaine Stevens, 9 years old, came down to the dock, introduced himself and said he was there with his family in a camper trailer. He told us he liked boats and that he had been on most of the cruising boats that stayed at the dock at Bobby's. He had a lot of questions about how things ran so Gale invited him aboard and showed him around. He thought cruising would be a great way to live.

Shortly after 9 am, we motored away from the dock and made our way to the anchorage at Bashi Creek where we anchored near the public access ramp about 3:30 pm. Because of the high waters, the ramp was not being used but that did not keep the locals from gathering to enjoy a Saturday night of fishing from the bank and drinking beer. We were told that the closest town was about 20 miles away.
