We didn’t sleep the best last night because we weren’t certain that our anchor was completely set. There was a strong current and we were afraid of drifting into Periwinkle during the night. We were up before the sun and left our spot at 7 am expecting our new friends to be close behind.
During our time on the river today, we passed some pretty sad looking shacks. We also saw the spectacular white cliffs of Epes around mile 249 and some pretty cool looking Spanish moss hanging from the trees.
Since we didn’t have any locks today, the current and the wind were with us and we had less than fifty miles to travel, we ended up at the Demopolis Yacht Basin and in our slip at 1 pm. Later in the day we met up with Periwinkle who related that their gear shift cable broke and they had to shift manually into forward and reverse. When they came into the dock at Demopolis, they had to have assistance getting in. We also learned that they didn’t sleep very well the night before either for fear that our boat was going to end up on top of theirs!!
We relaxed for the afternoon, took some nice hot showers, washed a load or two of laundry and puttered around the boat. We tried out the marina restaurant for dinner and since it had a “New Orleans style” menu, we ordered the Jambalaya and the Paella. Both were excellent!

It's good to get caught back up with you! You did a great job of remembering and reconstructing the days lost to the hard drive crash. So glad you didn't have to deal with a hurricane - hope you never do!
Patrick now has is restricted driver's license which will automatically convert to a regular license when he turns 16. We're already studying car specs to figure out our next vehicle. He can't wait to "inherit" the Focus!
Love to you both - and Lucy!
