Tues, Feb 16, 2010 - Stock Island

We relaxed and enjoyed the morning at Saddlebunch Harbor. It was mostly sunny with temperatures in the mid-70’s. By the time we pulled anchor at noon, the winds were out of the northwest at 15 knots which made for a very nice sail to Stock Island (between Saddlebunch Harbor and Key West). We covered the 10 nautical miles between anchorages in a couple of hours and spent another hour deciding where to anchor. The first spot we checked out was a little crowded with a lot of current. We ventured into another area close by which turned out to be a better place to drop anchor.

Gale and Brad tried to catch some fish but didn’t have much luck. We watched the jets from the nearby Naval base run through some training maneuvers and saw some men on jet skis zooming by our boat who appeared to be navy personnel, as well.

After dinner, Gale challenged all of us to play a board game with him. Alicia won the first round of Blokus and Maureen won the second.
