Sat, Jan 23, 2010 - Captiva Island ('Tween Waters)

It was 10:30 am when we pulled up the anchor and headed back toward Captiva Island. Gale’s brother, Mark, and his friend, JoEllen, were arriving between 4 and 5 this afternoon at ‘Tween Waters Inn to stay for a few days and enjoy the Florida sunshine with us. The skies were mostly to partly cloudy, but the temperature was in the mid 70’s as we made our way to Captiva. Around noon, we stopped at the South Seas Resort for fuel and water and just to check out the facilities.
That’s where we saw the lineup of shorebirds resting along the fence on the way into the resort’s main channel. The attendant at the fuel dock told us there were 11 pools and six restaurants on the property and that the cheapest way to stay there was to rent a slip. At $3.25 per foot (per night), it would have been the most expensive slip we had ever enjoyed! Maybe we’ll give it a try someday. . .

At 2 pm we were anchored securely in front of the ‘Tween Waters Marina awaiting Mark and JoEllen’s arrival. We straightened things up around the boat, took our showers, and dinghied into shore just in time to meet our guests. It was so great to see them! After Gale took Lucy back to Blue Heron, he joined Maureen, Mark and Jo at the poolside bar for a cocktail before taking everyone back to the boat to see where we live. After the Grand Tour, we headed back to shore and took the rental car to The Bubble Room, a popular local haunt, for cocktails. Our bartender, “Iggy,” was a lot of fun – even though we don’t think he thought we were nearly as funny as we thought we were. From here, it was to ‘Tween Waters for a wonderful evening meal.

I loved the Bubble Room when we were there ages ago! Looks like you all were having a good time.
