Joel and Mary arrived at Port Washington at 6 am and Gale met them at the marina dock. We all enjoyed the morning sail as it was quiet and leisurely with only 5-10 knot winds. Joel and Mary live on Lake Michigan and have a beautiful view of the harbor and lake. After arriving in Milwaukee we dropped the hook in front of their home. For easy access, Gale set the Blue Heron in a Mediterranean style anchorage with the bow anchored towards the sea and the stern pulled around facing the shore. Since this was a sandy beachfront, Blue Heron’s stern was only 30 feet from the shore in 5 feet of water. Lucy was thrilled with the open beach and Gale was grateful to be in a protected anchorage. Joel and Mary graciously offered the use of their home, car and laundry facilities. Later that night, we all sat down to a wonderful dinner and visited about our families, friends, and old times back in Clear Lake.

Big Baby Born Today! Good news: Jess and Joe are the proud parents of a new baby boy, Jacob Paul Spalding who entered this world at 7:23 pm weighing 8 pounds, 9 ounces. Jess did it all without medications – an all natural experience! Gale can’t wait to see the baby, but most of all he can’t wait to see Maureen!
