Today was a “bluebird day” with clear skies, 72 degrees and a light breeze. As soon as the day warmed up to around 80 degrees, Gale used the dinghy to clean off some of the green algae that had accumulated above Blue Heron’s waterline. Later in the day, Gale and Lucy explored a nearby beach in the dinghy. The beach was shallow, sandy and clean and Gale made a mental note that this would be a good beach to use the next time Blue Heron needs her hull cleaned. The boat has retractable keels and rudders on each of her two hulls. While sailing the open waters, the keels and rudders are lowered and draft nearly five feet. When anchoring or sailing her in shallow passages, the keels and rudders are raised allowing us to maneuver safely in 2 feet of water. Blue Heron can also be beached on a sandy shoreline during a high tide leaving her high and dry during the low tide to perform any maintenance or repairs.

No baby yet.
