Gale and Lucy left to return to the boat in Manitowoc about 8:30 am. Maureen settled into her Grandma role with JT and enjoyed a very relaxing day with the Spaldings. Gale’s drive included stops in Iowa City to see Kelle, in Madison for some shopping at West Marine and in Port Washington, Wisconsin, to “scout out” the anchorages and marina facilities.
In Iowa City, Kelle showed Gale his classrooms and gave him a tour of the lab where he works. They had a nice lunch together and planned a sailing weekend in August. In Port Washington Gale found a fairly protected harbor with a very quiet and scenic waterfront. On the first day of good weather and favorable winds, Gale will guide Blue Heron south to Port Washington with a layover in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
